Rohit Sharma's Epic Reply As Ravi Shastri Commits Faux Pas During Toss

India captain Rohit Sharma had a fun little chat with former head coach Ravi Shastri after Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first. With the conditions in Dubai favouring the team batting first more, both captains were looking to put runs on the board. But, it was Rizwan whose wish was fulfilled. However, Shastri committed as faux pas as he also asked India skipper Rohit, who hasn't had tosses going his way for a long time. The Hitman, however, saved Shastri's blushes, preventing further damage from being done.

After speaking to Rizwan, who had won the toss, Shastri asked Rohit, "What have you decided?" before realising that it was the Pakistan captain who had won the toss.

A smiling Rohit then said, "Doesn't really matter, they won the toss so we'll bowl first." Rohit also revealed that India are playing the same XI against Pakistan.

"Looks similar to the last game, the surface is on the slower side. We have an experienced unit in batting so we know what we need to do if the pitches get slower. Need an overall performance from the team - with bat and ball. The last game wasn't an easy one for us, which is always nice. You want to be under pressure and test yourself. We are playing the same team," he said.

Pakistan, who lost their previous match against New Zealand, had to make a forced change as injured Fakhar Zaman made way for Imam-ul-Haq in the team.

"Will bat first, looks like a good surface. Want to put up a good target. Every match is important in ICC events, we will keep things normal. The boys are familiar with these conditions, we have done well here and we want to do our best today. We lost our last game, but it is past for us now. One change - Fakhar is out, Imam is in," Rizwan revealed during toss.

Chahal, Dhanashree Divorce Case: Report Reveals 'Reason' They Cited In Court

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma have filed for divorce. The news of their divorce was doing rounds on social media for months. Both shared cryptic posts on the internet, hinting that they had gone their separate ways. But, none of them firmly spoke on the topic to highlight possible reasons behind the decision. There were reports that claimed the couple's final hearing and all necessary formalities took place at the Bandra Family Court on Thursday, where both were physically present. However, Dhanashree's lawyer has said that the proceedings are still underway.

"I have no comments to make on the proceedings, the matter is currently sub judice. The media should fact-check before reporting, as a lot of misleading information is being circulated," Dhanashree's lawyer Aditi Mohan said in a statement released to the press on Friday.

According to a report in ABP news, the judge advised the couple to seek counseling, which lasted for about 45 minutes. After the counselling session, the judge was informed that both wanted to part ways with mutual consent.

It was further revealed that Chahal and Dhanashree were living separately for the past 18 months. When asked about the possible reason behind seeking divorce, the couple said that had 'compatibility issues'.

Chahal shared a post on social media right before the final hearing which read: "God has protected me more times than I can count. So I can only imagine the times I've been rescued that I don't even know about. Thank you, God, for always being there, even when I don't know it. Amen."

Dhanashree also shared a message about faith on her Instagram account. "From stressed to blessed. Isn't it amazing how God can turn our worries and trials into blessings? If you're stressing about something today, know that you have a choice. You can either keep worrying or you can surrender it all to God and choose to pray about everything. There is power in having faith that God can work all things together for your good."

While neither mentioned the word divorce in the posts, the gist of the messages says it all.

"We Know That...": Gambhir's Blunt Admission On Jaiswal's CT 2025 Exclusion

Head coach Gautam Gambhir shed light on the surprise inclusion of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy in place of young southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal in India's 15-player squad for next week's Champions Trophy. On Tuesday night, the BCCI decided two prominent changes in India's squad for the Champions Trophy. The first was premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah being ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. The second change saw Jaiswal making way for Chakravarthy. He is the fifth spinner in India's star-studded squad alongside Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar.

Gambhir disclosed that Chakravarthy's emerging as a wicket-taking option in the middle overs was the reason for including another spinner in the squad.

"Look, the only reason was because we wanted another wicket-taking option in the middle. We know what Varun brings to the table and know that Varun can be a massive threat to a lot of teams who haven't played him. He could be an X-factor as well," Gambhir said in the post-match press conference after India's 3-0 series sweep over England.

With Chakravarthy's late inclusion, Gambhir pinpointed the advantage of having a wicket-taking option but didn't guarantee a spot for the mystery spinner in the playing XI.

"I'm not going to say that he's going to start and all that stuff, but it's always good to have a strong bowling line-up because we know that if he can actually get those wickets in the middle, it's always going to be an advantage and that was one of the reasons. Otherwise, we know that Yashasvi has got a fabulous future ahead. It's just that we could only pick 15," he added.

Jaiswal received his maiden ODI cap in the series opener against England in Nagpur. After taking a stunning catch in the first innings, the young southpaw failed to deliver with the bat and flopped with a knock of 15(22).

In the second ODI, Jaiswal was dropped from the playing XI for Virat Kohli, and Chakaravarthy made his ODI debut. It was a clinical outing for him as he returned with figures of 1/54 in his 10-over spell.

Meta Employee Laid Off After Returning From Maternity Leave: "Blindsided"

Meta has kicked off another round of job cuts, impacting around 3,600 employees across Europe, Asia, and the US. The company claims these layoffs are performance-based, targeting underperformers who didn't meet expectations. However, some former employees are disputing this, saying they had a solid track record of performance and were blindsided by the layoffs. One such employee is Elana Reman Safner, a product counsel for MetaWorks, who was laid off after returning from a six-month maternity leave.

In a LinkedIn post, Ms Safner shared her shock and disappointment, suggesting that Meta may have targeted employees who had recently taken leaves.

"Meta laid me off yesterday in its "performance-based" layoffs, and I was blindsided. I have never received a review below "Meets All" in my 3+ years at Meta, and I was on maternity leave for 6 months until November. It is very hard to believe that – despite Meta indicating my expectations are prorated – I did not do enough. Many laid off today have similar stories – a history of good performance, and a recent leave of absence," she wrote.

Here's the post:

Ms Safner further reminisced about her time at Meta, expressing gratitude towards her team. "At Meta, I learned to be nimble and resilient, provide business-focused, risk-calibrated advice, and how to be a great XFN partner. Even when I disagreed with product direction or was disappointed by Meta in the news, my clients and colleagues kept me energized," she added.

However, she also highlighted several aspects of the company she wouldn't miss, including the uncertainty of her career trajectory and the high-stress nature of her role. Ms Safner also took a swipe at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's leadership style, criticising his tendency to abruptly shut down products that didn't meet his "moonshot" expectations.

She wrote, "Here's what I won't miss: my career trajectory being completely at the whim of product decisions I have no control over, mental overload, 34-page one-pagers, having 62 tabs open, deprecating beloved products because they weren't “moonshot” enough for Zuck, Zuck's newfound “masculine energy” and becoming its collateral damage."

The layoffs come as Meta shifts its focus towards artificial intelligence and other strategic priorities.

IPL Franchise Gujarat Titans Get New Owners, Majority Shares Sold To...

Former IPL champions Gujarat Titans are set to have new owners as Indian business conglomerate, the Torrent Group, is in line to acquire a majority stake in the franchise. The Ahmedabad-based conglomerate will purchase a 67 per cent stake in the team from CVC Capital Partners (Irelia Company Pvt Ltd), who had bought the team in 2021. The deal is awaiting final approval from the IPL governing council, which would allow Torrent Group to take control ahead of the upcoming season, which will begin on March 21.

"The talks of Torrent Group taking two third ownership (67 per cent) is at an advanced stage. The lock-in period for CVC group as sole owners ends in February 2025 after which they are free to sell the stakes," an IPL source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

"Torrent group is one of the biggest names in Pharmaceutical sector in India and in 2021 when BCCI invited bids for two new teams, they had shown active interest. Obviously any change in ownership pattern requires approval from BCCI which is expected to be given in coming days," he added.

While the valuation of the stake being sold by CVC remains unconfirmed, the global private equity firm had invested Rs 5,625 crore to acquire the Titans in 2021.

Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the team clinched the title in 2022 and signed off with a runner-up finish in 2023. However, in the last season, the Shubman Gill-led side finished in eighth place.

Apart from Gill, other key players in the team include Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, England white-ball captain Jos Buttler, and India pacer Mohammed Siraj.

Torrent Group, which boasts a valuation of approximately Rs 41,000 crore, has been trying to make inroads into the cricketing domain.

Through its subsidiary, Torrent Sports Ventures Private Limited, it had previously bid for the Ahmedabad (Rs 4,653 crore) and Lucknow (Rs 4,356 crore) franchises in 2021, when the BCCI held an auction for two new teams.

Two years later, the group also made an unsuccessful attempt to acquire one of the three cities up for grabs in the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL).

"Will Finish His Unfinished Works": Parvesh Verma Pays Tribute To Father

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Parvesh Verma, after scripting history by winning the New Delhi seat in the assembly elections, on Sunday paid tributes to his father and former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma in his native village in Mundka.

Paying floral tributes to his father at Dr Sahib Singh Verma Samadhi Sthal, Mr Verma expressed his resolve to complete his "unfinished works".

Speaking to reporters, Mr Verma said, "My father's life is an inspiration for me. His unfinished works are resolves of mine. The way the people of Delhi have blessed us, all the MLAs of Delhi will work to beautify Delhi as per the vision of PM (Narendra) Modi."

As the BJP stormed the Delhi assembly polls, the party's winning candidate credited this as a victory of Prime Minister Modi.

He said, "The people of Delhi have shown trust in PM Modi and the credit for this victory goes to him."

Highlighting the poor infrastructure in Delhi, Mr Verma stated that the entire 'Delhi Dehaat' is in a "bad state", claiming that these parts were "ignored" by the previous governments.

The BJP which has returned to power almost after 27 years, has notably won the majority seats of the outer Delhi areas, including Narela, Bawana, Najafgarh, etc.

"The entire Delhi Dehaat is in a bad state as it was ignored by the parties that were in power, now the people here know that work will be done," he said.

Yamuna was one of the major issues of the Delhi Elections 2025. Mr Verma while speaking to reporters, pointed out that Yamuna will be the priority of the government to be formed.

He said, "Our govt made Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat and the way PM Modi spoke yesterday, Yamuna will be our priority."

Mr Verma, after scripting history by defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat in the Delhi assembly elections, visited his native village Mundka on Sunday morning.

He received a rousing welcome as he reached his native village. He also visited the Dada Bhairav Temple in Mundka and offered prayers there.

He emerged as a giant killer in the assembly election with a decisive win of over 4,000 votes over Mr Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. Congress' Sandeep Dikshit came third winning over 4500 votes.

The BJP stormed to power in the Delhi polls on Saturday, winning a two-thirds majority, with the ruling AAP suffering major blows and a drastic reduction in its numbers in the 70-member assembly. The Congress continued its dismal run.

The BJP won 48 seats in a historic mandate, returning to power in the national capital after 27 years. Several AAP leaders, including Mr Kejriwal, lost in their strongholds, with Chief Minister Atishi managing to retain her seat.

The verdict came months after the BJP-led coalition swept the Maharashtra polls and the party won Haryana, consolidating its domination of national politics.

The Congress, which was hoping for a revival in the national capital, again failed to win any seat. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 years from 1998, registered a hat-trick zero tally in the assembly polls.

The counting of votes was taken up on Saturday morning, with votes having been polled on February 5.

Trump Mocks Time Magazine After Cover Puts Musk Behind President's Desk

Time magazine's latest cover featured billionaire Elon Musk sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, a move likely aimed at stoking US President Donald Trump's ire. The otherwise simple red cover showed Musk, coffee in hand, sitting behind the presidential desk, sandwiched between American and presidential flags.

The provocative cover was accompanied by a lengthy article on Musk's "war on Washington" by upending the federal government that has left "millions of government workers [to] find themselves" at DOGE chief's mercy."

The publication seems to have hit its mark, with President Trump shrugging it off claiming he hadn't seen the latest issue. He mockingly asked if the Time was "still in business", just weeks after boasting about being named the magazine's 'Person of the Year' for 2024-- an honour he first received after winning the presidential election in 2016.

Addressing the media at the White House during a meeting with the Japanese prime minister, Trump was asked if he had seen the cover. Replying, he said he had not yet seen the cover and said, "No... Is Time Magazine still in business? I didn't even know that."

He went on to praise the South African-born billionaire saying, "Elon is doing a great job" by "finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste," which has included the Tesla CEO and his DOGE lieutenants essentially taking control of America's 2.2-million-member federal workforce and begin a dramatic reshaping of government.

Trump has put Musk in charge of what both men call the Department of Government Efficiency. According to Trump,

"He's got a staff that's fantastic," Trump said about Musk's DOGE team and announced that the CEO of Tesla and founder of SpaceX will soon be made available for press briefings so he could talk about his efforts in massive government restructuring.

Though Trump pretended to be unaware that Time is "still in business", he was ecstatic about making the magazine's cover just a few months ago when he was named its "Person of the Year."

"Time Magazine, getting this honour for the second time, I think I like it better this time actually," he said in December.

Not Just For Middle Class, Budget Is For 'Ache Din, Viksit Bharat': Prakash Javedkar

Senior BJP Leader Prakash Javedkar calls Modi 3.0 Budget a promise for Viksit Bharat. He says this budget and reforms proposed will transform India.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented a record eighth consecutive budget, which is expected to contain measures that ease the burden on the middle class struggling with high prices and stagnant wage growth while being fiscally prudent. As per the Economic Survey tabled on Friday, the Indian economy is expected to grow at 6.3-6.8 percent in 2025-26. While India will need structural reforms and deregulation to reinforce medium-term growth potential, investment activity is expected to pick up.
