LPG tanker Jag Vasant anchored at a port in Gujarat late on Thursday, days after tensions continue to prevail of the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel's arrival at Vadinar port, after being stranded in the critical waterway for around 23 days amid the Middle East war, brings relief at a time the Centre continues to pacify concerns over LPG shortage in the country. Loaded with 47,600 metric tonnes of LPG, is one of the several such tankers that were stranded in the Strait of Hormuz that Iran has all but shut down as it strikes neighbouring countries for almost a month. A second LPG tanker Pine Gas, carrying 45,000 metric tonnes of LPG, will soon arrive at the New Mangalore Port. All 60 seafarers on these vessels are safe. Their arrival will add a combined stock of over 92,000 metric tonnes of LPG to India's existing stock, an amount equivalent to "roughly a day's cooking gas consumption of the country. Over the past ten days, two large LPG tankers have already arrived in India after having passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

More than 10 million people have had power cut to their homes and businesses across Cuba after the country's national electrical grid collapsed for the second time in a week. Cuba's energy ministry said "a total disconnection of the National Electrical System has occurred", in a statement posted on social media. "Protocols for restoration are already beginning to be implemented." Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has increased the price of its premium petrol price by Rs 2 per litre. The revised rates came into effect on Friday itself. Although the state-run petroleum company didn't specify any reason behind the hike, it is believed that fluctuations in global crude oil prices and changes in logistics costs amid the ongoing Iran-US conflict may have prompted the decision. However, the price of HPCL's normal petrol remains unchanged. Previously, HPCL, in a post on X, said, "There is no disruption in crude oil supply. Additional cargoes are already on the way and will further strengthen India's supply position in the coming days." It added, "Avoid rumours. Trust official updates."
India's aviation regulator has asked airlines to avoid flying through 11 high-risk airspaces across the Middle East, citing a "high-risk environment for civil aviation" amid escalating tensions following recent strikes involving the US, Israel and Iran and the possibility of further retaliation affecting the region. The identified high-risk zone includes airspace over Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait, covering all flight levels. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued the advisory directing all Indian carriers to steer clear of these airspaces at all altitudes and ensure contingency plans for operations to affected destinations. The order will remain in force till March 28, unless reviewed earlier.
