Watch: Dhoni Refuses To Give Autograph To Chahar In Hilarious Exchange
Deepak Chahar shared a hilarious moment with skipper MS Dhoni after Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans to clinch a record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. It was a nail-bitter till the end as the match got down to the last ball and it took a special effort from Ravindra Jadeja to clinch the win for his side. In a video going viral on social media, Chahar could be seen approaching Dhoni for an autograph but the veteran made fun of him and jokingly refused to sign his shirt. Dhoni could be see gesturing about a missed catch by Chahar. Chahar kept asking Dhoni for his autograph and after a few moments, Dhoni smiled and hugged him before accepting his request.

Chennai Super Kings claimed a record-equalling fifth Indian Premier League title with a five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in a rain-affected but thrilling summit showdown on Monday.
B Sai Sudharsan slammed 96 in 47 balls as Gujarat Titans posted 214 for four after being asked to bat first. Set a revised target of 171 in 15 overs after rain interrupted play at the start of the second innings of a final that was pushed to the reserve day owing to heavy downpour, CSK completed the task in the last ball at a packed Narendra Modi Stadium in what could turn out to be the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni's final outing in the T20 league.

Ravindra Jadeja struck a six and a four off Mohit Sharma in the final two balls to win it for CSK.
Earlier, GT were off to a flying start with their opening duo of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill putting on 67 runs in seven overs.
While Gill was sent back by star left-arm spinning all-rounder Jadeja for a 20-ball 39, Saha went on to make 54 off 39 balls to lay a strong foundation for a formidable total.
Saha was dismissed by seamer Deepak Chahar, who had dropped Gill when the batter was on 3.
Sudharsan, who has also been in good form in recent times, hit six sixes and eight fours in his whirlwind knock.
Tushar Deshpande gave away 56 runs in his four overs.

Video: Man Breaks Beauty Pageant Winner's Crown As Wife Places Second
In a shocking incident, the husband of a beauty pageant contestant climbed onto the stage, snatched the winner's crown and smashed it to the ground after his wife was awarded the second place. The incident took place at an LGBTQ+ beauty pageant in Brazil on Saturday, as per local news outlet Globo. One of the attendees recorded the man's action and the clip soon appeared on various social media platforms. The man's outburst took place as the winner is announced at the Miss Gay Mato Grosso 2023 pageant.
The video shows the crowning ceremony and a woman approaching the two finalists - Nathally Becker and Emannuelly Belini - to announce the winner. As she moved the crown on top of the two contestants before the big reveal, the enthusiastic crowd cheered both of them.
Ms Belini was finally chosen as the winner and the woman proceeded to place the shiny tiara on her head. But before the ceremony could complete, the runner-up contestant's husband interrupted it.
The hot-headed husband pulled away the crown from the woman's hands and hurled it on the stage floor. He was also seen yelling and pulling his wife away from the winner as a shocked audience gasped.

The man then picked up the crown and heaved it to the ground again, breaking it to pieces.
New York Post said the event's security team intervened and pulled the man backstage.
Pageant coordinator Malone Haenisch later released a statement in which he said, "He did not consider the result to be fair and caused all this inconvenience and damage."
"We vehemently condemn the incident that occurred at the time of the crowning of the elected Miss when the partner of Miss Cuiaba, who was classified in second place, invaded the stage and aggressively destroyed the crown," he added.
The organiser insisted that the pageant's judges were fair in declaring Belini as the winner.

However, fans will have to wait a few more hours to witness who will be the champions this season. Due to persistent rain in Motera, the final match of IPL was pushed to reserve day - May 29 [Monday].
This was after a heavy downpour was experienced just half an hour before the match, making it impossible for the game to commence at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Given that there is no forecast for rain on Monday, fans are hopeful that they will get to witness a riveting final match.

Video: Part Of 6-Storey Apartment Building Collapses In US, 7 Rescued
Rescue operations were launched in Davenport, in US state of Iowa, after part of a six-storey building collapsed on Sunday. Seven people are believed to be trapped under the rubble and an unknown number of others are injured, according to NBC News. The rescue operation continued through Sunday night, the outlet quoted city officials as saying at a press conference. There are also fears that the collapse of the building just before 5pm may have caused leakage of gas and water from the apartment, Davenport Fire Chief Mike Carlsten said.
"A portion of the rear building had actually collapsed, separated from the building," he said.
More than a dozen people received help from first responders as they left the building, NBC News quoted Mr Carlsten as saying.

Mayor Mike Matson did not rule out possible deaths in the incident. "There are people unaccounted for," Mr Matson said.
New York Post said that the back of the six-storey apartment complex collapsed and had separated from the building, which houses apartments on the upper floors and businesses on the ground level.
The police in Davenport advised locals to avoid the downtown area after the collapse.
A reunification area established at St. Anthony's Church on Main Street was being serviced by Red Cross personnel, the fire department said as per a New York Post report.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately known but civic authorities have launched an investigation.
Rich Oswald, City of Davenport director of development and neighborhood services, told New York Post that work was being done on the building's exterior at the time of the collapse.

"Selling Dhoni Was Career Highlight": IPLs 1st Auctioneer Ahead Of Final
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final is set to kick-off on Sunday evening, with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings up against the defending champions Gujarat Titans. Dhoni, who is chasing his 5th title as the captain of CSK, has been a part of the franchise ever since he was bought in the inaugural IPL 2008 auction. The man who had sold him in the bidding war back then, Richard Madley, posted a brilliant tweet ahead of the final of the 16th edition of the league, recalling the first auction.
Madley had sold Dhoni after a bidding war for the wicket-keeper batter between CSK and Mumbai Indians saw his price rising from USD 400,000 to USD 900,000.
In his tweet on Sunday, Madley called selling Dhoni the highlight of his career.
"Selling #Dhoni in the first #IPL auction was a career highlight & meeting him was very special. He signed this for my son @harrymadley6. Good luck today," he tweeted along with a picture of Dhoni's autographs for his son.

Watch: Salman Hugs Vicky Kaushal On IIFA Rocks Green Carpet
Vicky Kaushal and Salman Khan have been trending big time ever since a video of Salman's security pushing Vicky Kaushal on the way during an IIFA press conference started doing the rounds. Vicky Kaushal also reacted to the video (more on that later). This is the story of what happened on the IIFA Rocks green carpet in Abu Dhabi last night. Vicky Kaushal was posing on the red carpet, when Salman Khan went and hugged the National Award winning actor. Needless to say, the video is viral and it has been curated by several fan pages dedicated to the actors.

Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal reacted to the video where Salman Khan's security can be seen pushing him and he said, "A lot of times there is unnecessary chatter about things. There's no point about it. Things don't actually are as they seem in the video. There is no point in talking about that."
Here's the video from the IIFA press conference event that went viral earlier this week:
Vicky Kaushal will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar's Sam Bahadur. The film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The actor was last seen in Govinda Naam Mera, alongside Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar. He will also feature in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke with Sara Ali Khan.
On the work front, Salman Khan was last seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. He has announced the second installment of Bajrangi Bahaijaan. The actor's forthcoming projects include Kick 2, with Jacqueline Fernandez and Tiger 3 with Katrina Kaif. The latter will release this year. "How Far Will They Go?": BJP On 8 Chief Minister's Boycott Of Key Meeting
The BJP today lashed out at chief ministers who boycotted the governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog, calling their decision "anti-people" and "irresponsible".
The meeting, which will deliberate on several issues including, health, skill development, women empowerment and infrastructure development, with an aim to make India a developed nation by 2047, began here on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the NITI Aayog is a key body for determining the entire objective, framework and road map for the development of the country.
He said as many as 100 issues are proposed to be discussed in the eighth governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog but chief ministers of eight states are not coming to attend it.
Chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and Mamata Banerjee are among those not attending the meet.
"Why are they not coming to attend the meeting where 100 issues are to be discussed. If such a large number of chief ministers do not participate, they are not bringing the voice of their states," Mr Prasad said.
It is "very unfortunate, irresponsible and anti-people", he said. "How far will you go in opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the BJP leader asked.
"You will get more opportunities to oppose PM Modi. But why are you causing harm to the people of your state?" he questioned.
This decision to boycott the meeting by eight chief ministers is "totally irresponsible" and is also "against the public interest and in the interest of people they govern in their states", Mr Prasad said.

Review: Rahul Bhat Plays Kennedy With Phenomenal Panache
Cast: Rahul Bhat, Sunny Leone, Benedict Garrett, Megha Burman and Mohit Takalkar
Director: Anurag Kashyap
Rating: Three stars (out of 5)
(Kennedy premiered Out of Competition at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday night)
A cold-blooded, vengeful killer is on the prowl in Kennedy, an overheated noir thriller that plays out over five nights but tells a story that spans from 2014 to the year the Covid-19 pandemic began to ravage the world. The plot centres on a policeman who has been missing for six years but continues to be at work like a silent virus, killing people at will.
Anurag Kashyap's film is loath to pause for breath, a trait that is at times a touch disorienting, but the allure of a psychopath who hovers between tenacity and insanity is undeniable. The hitman's violent depredations parallel the menace of a deadly and invisible virus that could either biological or systemic. In this film, it is more the latter.
Kashyap's script follows the dangerously flawed man as he wreaks havoc around the city of Mumbai with a mix of unsentimental detachment and hard-edged, single-minded pursuit of chosen, and sometimes random, targets.
The eponymous character is the brainchild of Sudhir Mishra, to whom the film is dedicated. The titular insomniac ex-cop is the antithesis of all that a policeman is supposed to stand for, but he isn't the only one who is to blame for the terrifying lawlessness that he unleashes on the streets and alleyways of the metropolis.
When we first meet him, he is no longer a man in uniform and the only uniformity that there is in his behaviour pertains to his appetite for a kill.
The world that Kennedy plays out in is exceedingly dark - the entire film is shot at night - and amoral. The benighted ambience reflects the mind of a man who no longer exists either on the official rolls of the police force or in the world of the living as we know it. He is, therefore, free to do what he wishes.
He is a killing machine answerable to virtually nobody, not even to the higher-up who has created him to serve his own ends.
Uday Shetty alias Kennedy, played with phenomenal panache by Rahul Bhat, holds within himself all that is despicable and degrading. The trouble is he is a Frankenstein's monster with a mind of its own.
The film's frenetic pace approximates the working of the assassin's frenzied mind. He may be a pawn in the hands of Mumbai police chief Rasheed Khan (Mohit Takalkar), but since the cold-blooded killer operates beyond the pale of the law, he is beyond control.
Kennedy, produced by Zee Studios and the Anurag Kashyap-fronted outfit Good Bad Films, falls backs on doleful poetry written and recited by Aamir Raza (who also appears on screen as a nightclub singer) to bring out the void in which Kennedy exists and thrives.
The film cites Romantic poet William Wordsworth to begin with: "We poets in our youth begin in gladness/But thereof comes in the end despondency and madness". It then explodes into dizzying series of murders perpetrated by Kennedy, who is sunk into irreversible psychosis.
Poetry and crime often go hand in hand in film noir. In Kennedy, which presents murder as a lonesome maniac's preferred mode of self-expression, the connection between verse and venality is very deep. By playing one off against the other, the film uses one to heighten the impact of the other.
The poetry and the dialogue poses questions to both the principal character as well as the audience as the film throws in references to the larger political realities of the times.
The killer is asked: "Bata kitne qatl kiye tune/Bata kitna mazaa aaya/Kitne sikkon mein beche murde/Bata kitna kamaa laaya (How many have murdred? Did you have fun? How much did you sell the dead for? How much did you earn?)."
In a long sequence in a cab driven by Kennedy - he works for a premium taxi hailing company - a man offers a bribe to a politician to defect from the ruling party and help in toppling the state government. The MLA refuses to swallow the bait.
The film asks through one of the characters: Who runs the country - the supremo or the billionaire masters who own and operate everything that is profitable and yields untrammelled power? The answer is up in the air. The way the police operates, and the equations the force has with the underworld, is manifested in the things that Kennedy is allowed to do and get away with.
Kashyap captures the enigma of a man who subscribes to no established, accepted norms of behaviour. The glee on his face when he twists a knife into a victim or pulls the trigger to kill without remorse is chilling, a mirror to a crazed, twisted mind inured to anything that might resemble pity or moderation.
Kennedy takes his orders from the Police Commissioner, is estranged from his wife Anuradha (Megha Burman) for reasons that are revealed late in the film, strays into the path of a sultry siren Charlie (Sunny Leone) in the wake of one of his many murderous strikes, occasionally works with a serving sub-inspector, Abhijeet Kale (Shrikant Yadav), and frequently acts of his own volition, throwing the well-laid plans of a cynical boss into utter disarray.
Does Kennedy not feel any sense of guilt at all? He does. The people he kills haunt him. But nothing flusters him more than the loss of his family and the life that he had before he chose to become an accomplice in a devious plan not entirely of his own making. So, Kennedy definitely isn't a one-dimensional figure.
The film, however, could have done with a little more depth. It seems to skim the surface and refrains from going the whole hog with its political allusions. But Kennedy does give us a central character who intrigues and excites thanks to the power Rahul Bhat lends to it.
Sunny Leone's laugh - more a sharp elongated squeal than a pure guffaw/giggle - is the defining trait of the character she plays. Wish there was more to her. But it is definitely good to see the actor being used for something beyond just as a means of titillation. She makes the most of the opportunity. Mohit Takalkar, Shrikant Yadav and Megha Burman also stand out.
Sylvester Fonseca's cinematography, the background score (which incorporates Tchaikovsky and Swan Lake and was recorded by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra) and the poetry of provocative pessimism that Aamir Raza contributes to the film are out of the ordinary.
In the ultimate analysis, Kennedy is as much an Anurag Kashyap film as it is a Rahul Bhat vehicle. The cinematic work and the onscreen performance complement each other to perfection.

US Zoo Lets Visitors Pet Kiwi, Apologises After Outrage In New Zealand
A zoo in the United States has apologised after a video showing visitors petting the kiwi under bright lights sparked outrage in New Zealand, where it is the national bird. The Miami Zoo said it was "deeply sorry" about the incident, according to the BBC. A few clips posted on social media showed a flightless bird being handled by visitors and kept awake by artificial lighting. The bird seen in the video is Paora, which was hatched in the Miami Zoo in 2019 as part of a breeding programme aimed at ensuring the kiwi species' survival, the outlet further said.
One of the videos has been posted by Holly Neill, a wildlife photographer. She said in her tweet that it was "appalling" to see a kiwi treated this way.
"It's being kept awake during the day despite being a nocturnal species. When it runs to hide in a dark box, they open the lid," Ms Neill said in the tweet.
The treatment of this poor kiwi at Miami Zoo is appalling. I'm so mad about this. It's being kept awake during the day despite being a nocturnal species. When it runs to hide in a dark box, they open the lid. It's so upsetting to see taonga treated like this. pic.twitter.com/IDuq4gNN0c
— Holly (@HollyNeillNZ) May 22, 2023
"For $23.36USD, Miami Zoo will let you disrupt a nocturnal, endangered kiwi by forcing it into artificial lighting and allow you to touch it. I'm so upset about the welfare of this kiwi," she added.
Instances like these triggered protests in New Zealand where the number of these birds has fallen from 12 million to just 68,000, according to Save the Kiwi charity.
An online petition was also launched on change.org to "Help save this mistreated kiwi". It has so far gathered more than 13,000 signatures.
"He has been tamed and is subjected to bright flourescent lighting 4 days a week, being handled by dozens of strangers, petted on his sensitive whiskers, laughed at, and shown off like a toy," the petition reads.
"Kiwi are nocturnal animals, who should be kept in suitable dark enclosures, and minimally handled. The best practice manual for kiwi states that they shouldn't be handled often or taken out of their burrow to be held by the public," it further said.
Meanwhile, New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins thanked the Miami Zoo for taking public concerns seriously.
"They've acknowledged what they were doing wasn't appropriate, or wasn't right, or wasn't fair, to the kiwi," he said at a press conference.
The zoo admitted what happened was wrong and its spokesperson said the practice to let visitors handle the kiwi has been discontinued.

Tipu Sultan's Sword Sold For Rs 140 Crore At London Auction
The bedchamber word of Tipu Sultan, the 18th century ruler of Mysuru, has sold for 14 million pounds ($17.4 million or Rs 140 crore)) at an auction in London. Auction house Bonhams, which organised the sale, said the price on Tuesday was seven times the estimate. Bonhams further said that the sword was the most important of the weapons with proven personal association with the ruler. Tipu Sultan won fame in wars of the late 18th century. He fought against the Marathas on several occasions between 1175 and 1779.
"This spectacular sword is the greatest of all the weapons linked to Tipu Sultan still in private hands. Its close personal association with the Sultan, its impeccable provenance traceable to the very day it was captured, and the outstanding craftsmanship that went into its manufacture make it unique and highly desirable," said Oliver White, Bonhams Head of Islamic and Indian Art and auctioneer.
The sword was found in the private quarters of Tipu Sultan's palace.
"The sword has an extraordinary history, an astonishing provenance and unrivalled craftsmanship. It was no surprise it was so hotly contested between two phone bidders and a bidder in the room. We are delighted with the result," Nima Sagharchi, group head of Islamic and Indian Art at Bonhams, said in a statement.
Tipu Sultan was given the nickname "Tiger of Mysore" for the ferocity with which he defended his kingdom.
He pioneered the use of rocket artillery in wars and transformed Mysore into the most dynamic economy in India, Bonhams said on its website.
After Tipu Sultan was killed, his sword was presented to British Major General David Baird as a token of his courage, according to the auction house.

Relief For Samajwadi Party's Azam Khan, UP Court Revokes A Guilty Verdict
Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was today acquitted by an Uttar Pradesh court in a 2019 hate speech case. The Rampur court overturned the verdict of a lower court which had found the Samajwadi leader guilty last year of of hate speech targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Samajwadi leader had accused the Prime Minister of creating an atmosphere in the country in which Muslims found it difficult to exist.
Following the 2022 verdict, Khan was disqualified as an MLA.
A government counsel in the case said the special court accepted the appeal filed against Khan's sentence.
Khan's counsel Vinod Sharma said, "We have been acquitted in the hate speech case. We are happy that we have got justice." "Our contention that we had been framed in the case has been upheld by the court, and the judgement is in our favour," Sharma added.
After Khan's membership to the assembly was disqualified, a by-election was held in the Rampur Sadar seat. BJP candidate Akash Saxena defeated the SP's Asim Raja, a close aide of Khan, in the polls.
Azam Khan has a strong following in Rampur and other parts of western Uttar Pradesh.
The Samajwadi leader faces 87 cases, with charges ranging from corruption and theft to land grab, filed since the BJP took power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017.

Watch: Gambhir's No-Nonsense Gesture As Eden Crowd Chants "Kohli, Kohli"
The connection between Gautam Gambhir and Kolkata Knight Riders go way back in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former India opener was a massive asset for the franchise in multiple seasons and he led them to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. However, the crowd showed no mercy to the present Lucknow Super Giants mentor as they chanted Virat Kohli's name as a taunt following the duo's on-field spat during the ongoing tournament. Gambhir, whose LSG side were able to qualify for the playoffs with a narrow win over KKR, gestured the crowd in lower the volume before breaking into a smile himself.

Gambhir was not the only one who was targeted with Kohli chants as the crowd at Eden Gardens started chanting the ex-India skipper's name while pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was handed the ball.
Rinku Singh's fighting knock of 67 runs went in vain as Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 1-run in a thriller in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match.
While the victory assured LSG of a playoff berth, a defeat to KKR put curtains on their IPL 2023 campaign.
A crucial counter-attacking knock of 58(30) from Nicholas Pooran helped Lucknow Super Giants qualify for the Play-offs but not before surviving a Rinky Singh scare as they beat Kolkata Knight Riders in a last-over thriller.
Pooran's fighting knock helped LSG recover from 73/5 and propelled them to a competitive 176/8. Ravi Bishnoi then bowled an impressive spell of 2/23 as LSG survived another heroic performance from Rinku Singh (67* off 33) to win the match by one run as Impact Player Yash Thakur defended 21 in the last over.

Snake Slithers Into Equipment, Causes Power Outage For 16,000 People In US
16,000 customers in US' Austin were left without electricity when a snake slithered into a substation and came into contact with equipment. According to Matt Mitchell, a spokesman for Austin Energy, the outage began at 1 pm on May 16 and affected about 16,000 customers at its peak, Fox 7 Austin reported.
The incident happened when a snake slithered into one of the substations and made contact with an electrified circuit, causing the outage.
In a tweet, Austin Energy said, ''Wildlife interference can result in power outages. Today a snake crawled into one of our substations and made contact with an electrified circuit.''
Update: Wildlife interference can result in power outages. Today a snake crawled into one of our substations and made contact with an electrified circuit. All customers from this outage have been restored as of 2 p.m. today. Thank you for your patience.
— Austin Energy (@austinenergy) May 16, 2023
Power was later restored for all affected customers by 2 pm.
''This wasn't about the grid, it wasn't about infrastructure, this was just about a particular bit of wildlife that was in the wrong place, at the wrong time and caused a pretty big headache for a lot of folks,'' Matt Mitchell, an Austin Energy spokesperson told CBS Austin.
He added that the company is now in the process of installing low-voltage electric snake fences around substations to keep slithering reptiles out.
''And hopefully, that will act as a deterrent for at least that particular bit of wildlife that can interfere with our operations. It's never an easy thing to lose power. So we always want to respond as quickly as possible to safely restore. This one was a little bit more challenging because this particular snake took out several circuits that had to be reset, and we had to do some investigating to make sure that we had a clear understanding of what needed to be repaired. And once we did, the restoration process was fairly straightforward,'' he said.
In a similar incident last year, around 10,000 homes in Japan were left without electricity after a snake slithered into an electric substation and fried itself to death. As per the investigators, the snake was still burning when it was found. It had come into contact with a live wire and as a result, smoke alarms were triggered and six fire trucks raced to the scene.
