Mucormycosis, or Black Fungus, has emerged as a huge challenge for India after the second wave of COVID-19. The country, at present, has nearly 20,000 cases of the serious fungal infection. The mortality rate of Mucormycosis is much higher than Covid and an early diagnosis and prompt management is absolutely critical in saving a patient. NDTV spoke with experts on studies emerging on the link between Covid and Mucormycosis, and discusses why there more Mucormycosis cases in India than the rest of the world.
