The Chennai international airport has earmarked the ground floor of its Terminal 4 for Covid testing passengers from "at risk countries" amid the Omicron scare. With a capacity to seat around 500 passengers, the airport provides free WiFi and telephone besides forex and television entertainment as passengers have to wait up to six hours for results. While rapid PCR test results would come in 30 minutes, it would cost Rs 3400. RTPCR test costs Rs 700 but results would take 5 to 6 hours. NDTV spoke to the Airport Director Dr Sharad Kumar on the arrangements, waiting time and preparedness to handle passengers from London, Frankfurt and other European cities.
